Using the Confidant Scrapbook Kit with Nancy Damiano

As the month winds down, let's take a last look at the Confidant kit. I've made quite a few pages with the kit, so I'm down to a hodge podge of patterns and embellishments. I started this design by pulling out all of the red and pink elements. That decision was inspired by the red telephone booth in the photo. I wanted to tell the story of my son and his obsession with it at Harry Potter Universal Studios.

This is a somewhat clean and simple design, with a dash of texture. I created that texture with a border along the left side of the page. Alternating enamel triangles, veneer stars and stamped text gives the border a nice cascade shape.

To give the right side of the page some weight, I tucked in a few chipboard shapes between the layers. That gives the layers a little lift, and adds a rounded shape to the very linear spot.

My favorite part of the entire layout is the huge title created with the Sydney alphabet stamp. The curved shape was inspired by the half circle placed in the center of the page. This patterned paper circle was a leftover from another project. I believe in recycle and reuse - sometimes it leads to the best ideas! The super big font is perfect for a bold title like this.

If you're nearing the end of your kit this month, isolate one color and go with it. I figured keeping this page in the red would keep the eye focused right on that photo + story! It's amazing what you can do with some colorful leftovers.
