CHAllenge - Kelly Noel's circular photo, buttons, and polka dots;
Davinie's stitching challenge; Nik's journaling card/spot challenge
(sorry so long...but quite an adventure behind this)
Used a Crate Paper journaling card for the story behind this. I started the background on vanilla cardstock and stamped all over with the SC confetti stamp with distress ink from Pep Squad (love that stamp), then used my fav and old foam Heidi Swapp polka dot stamp to stamp randomly with paint...then a light dry brush of gesso. And used a mix of several kits...
Loved the way this was coming out with the texture, so added some stitching. I broke apart the Sassafras flower button, and stitched around the flower, and around the Amy Tan leaves. Wanted more texture, so added stitching around the circular photos.
I am so glad to get this story documented. The journaling reads:
"One of the only remaining preserved wetlands in Louisiana. Brother Where Art Thou, Interview with a Vampire and more movies were filmed here. Celebrities come all the time to see the swamp. But we go on 4th of July weekend with over 100 degree temps. We had to take Emma's shirt off and ask the captain if he had any water on board. We went with Dean and Kathy but that didn't help. The over two hour boat ride and heat were too much. When Emma asked to get off the boat and couldn't, she started screaming, crying, that made the one alligator we saw come to us! Not fun -"
Yes, I held on to Emma as tight as I could...little freaky having that gator come towards the direction of her crying and screaming. I'm sure the 23 other passengers were wishing we'd get off the boat, although they got to see the one and only alligator during the 2 + hour boat ride.
