Farewell to an Industry Pioneer
Earlier today, I learned an industry pioneer is ending its 15 year journey of providing inspiration and education to me and many other passionate memory keepers.
2 Peas and owner Kristina Nicolai-White have been instrumental to my life both personally and professionally. Without her influence I may have never become so involved in the scrapbooking industry or started Studio Calico 7 years ago. At the time, I was a traveling professional with no kids and there were few supplies locally that suited my needs as a papercrafter. Enter 2peas, a fascinating online company with a welcoming community providing quality products and galleries upon galleries of inspiration. It was through them I formed early friendships in the industry, learned the difference between pigment and dye inks, and how to set an eyelet.
While I am sad to see a wonderful business exit the industry, I am confident the contribution 2peas made as an early trendsetting company, has set the stage for memory keepers to build on their knowledge and excitement for pretty paper. Documenting our memories is an art, a lifestyle, and most importantly how we capture our lives. I am thankful for Kristina’s eye for design and the countless stickers and papers she curated for us over the years as well as the community she provided that allowed us to share our passion.
What we will all remember is the art, the friendships, and the memories that we captured through 2peas’ products and services.
I will miss you 2peas!!!

I am incredibly saddened. I loved their designer galleries. It worries me that scrap booking will not survive. Thank you for your words.

I worry too that Scrapbooking may not survive. I have been scrapbooking for 15 years ( as old as my first born, my son.). I can't believe they are going away. So sad. What is next for Scrapbooking? Worried

I am very sad about this. I have learned so much from the video and tutorials and by browsing their galleries. It was more than a store, it was a warehouse of ideas. I hope all the designers that I have come to love can find other venues in which to share their talents.

Farewell 2 Peas... I remember spotting Kristina at CHA in 2001... it was more exciting than seeing a movie star! The industry has taken some hard knocks since then... We all need to USE OUR STUFF if the industry is to survive :o)

It is with sadness that we say goodbye 2 Peas, but thank you Studio Calico for continuing to inspire this artistic memory keeping industry with the latest products and ideas.

I concur with the sadness - I am a traditional SB'er and relied on 2P's gallery, forums and site for inspiration as I do SC's. A lot of great information passed through the forums and I hate to see it go. I thank you Kristina for opening up doors for us and thank you April for taking the lead from her keeping our passion alive. Wish you well Kristina.

So very well said April. Two Peas was the first online forum I ever participated in and it is what eventually led me here to Studio Calico. I had the honor of meeting Kristina at the Two Peas 10th Birthday Crop, she was super sweet. With no LSS's in my area and the recent closure of Archiver's I was ordering from Two Peas in addition to my subscription here, I will really miss access to all those great supplies. I also loved Two Peas because it was a Wisconsin based company and I love to support business in my state. I am so happy to have SC and hope that we will be chatting, sharing and creating together long into the future.

I find it very sad that we are losing Two Peas the store, but I find it devastating that we are losing Two Peas the community. Best wishes to all the Two Peas families.

It's so very sad...it will just feel so weird when the site is gone! Even though I really didn't shop with them much anymore (I kind of stopped when they changed their rewards program), It's definitely going to leave a hole in the scrapbooking community for a while. I would love to see SC do more inspirational videos to fill the void Two Peas will leave in that department!!

I am so sad about Two Peas. I absolutely understand but I pray other leaders in the community take a few lessons from their innovation and CUSTOMER SERVICE. They will be sorely missed.

It is a site that will be missed for many reasons. I remember many many years ago learning to shoot fully manual with my camera through the guidance of some of the wonderful peas on the photographic board at the time. It opened up a whole world of possibilities and friendship to a country girl.

I am hopeful other online suppliers like Studio Calico will broaden their assortments if it fits the business model that you have in place. As a long time fan and customer of Studio Calico I would be happy to send all of my business to you. Having a one stop shop for my supplies would be great. I have backed off the subscription kits for over a year so that I could catch up on my craft but continued to purchase supplies as needed. Even though I stopped being a subscriber I did not abandon the craft or the buying of supplies and classes.
Two Peas in a Bucket was my first place that I found to give me community and a resource for supplies. In our challenging economy I understand the difficulties of keeping what customers want on hand. Gods speed to the Two Peas in a Bucket family.
