Member Spotlight | Iole Quercia

This month, get to know Studio Calico member Iole Quercia (seleapi). Iole hails from Sicily, where she and her husband reside. She started scrapbooking more than 10 years agao, and her style has developed and changed as she's transitioned to Project Life® layouts. Learn more about Iole below!

Hi, my name is Iole and I live in the very South of Italy, the sunny city of Sicily, where I moved about 5 years ago when I got married. As a bank employee, my job life has a lack of creativity, which I transfer on my pages. I always loved anything paper or colors related since I was a little girl and spent my time decorating secret diaries and school journals, but I really fell in love with scrapbooking about 10 years ago, when I discovered the Italian scrapbookers community.

Since then, I mostly worked on mini albums and cards until Project Life® caught my eye...bang! It was exactly what I was looking for to preserve my day by day memories, so I started my Studio Calico subscription to help me document my life.

The Cirque and Pop Art collections! I love bright, sunny colors with black and white touches and a bit of graphic design.

What do you do when your kit comes?

They are shipped to my job, so I have all my colleagues and customers opening the box with me (and usually most of them have no idea of what a lot of items are even called!!!). So every box opening turns in a sort of scrapbooking lesson...and everyone forgets about everything else for a while! :)

What's your go to technique?

First of all, I grab my Filofax Project Life® section, where I take note of everything that happened in a certain week and of the pics that go with it. Then I always start from the pictures, layering them on the corresponding page protector spot and move them around until I'm satisfied with it. This is where the fun starts, I keeping on adding cards and embellishments until I feel the page is well balanced.

2) Labels: Journaling to me is as important as pictures to tell my stories, and journaling spots are never enough! A label easily helps me to add some lines with a touch of extra layering and decorating, too.

4) Micron pens: As I do a lot of hand journaling, I experimented with every existing pen and finally came to the perfect tool.

Where do you go when your mojo is low?

When I try to force myself to complete a page I'm never happy with the results, so I better stop what I'm doing and wait until my creativity recharges. Then I spend time across the Studio Calico Member Gallery and on the blogs I follow and magically my mojo turns back on!
