Tutorial: Using the Holiday Hats Stamp Set with Allison Waken

I really love fun holiday decor so I wanted to make something new this year that would make anyone smile. I love the Holiday Hats Stamp Set by Life Love Paper and it completely inspired this project.

First, I created a file in Photoshop with my dog's cut out heads. I like to use the polygonal lasso tool to select the heads and then erase the rest of the photograph. I "cut out" their heads in Photoshop but if you're not familiar enough with Photoshop to do it you can cut the heads out of a printed photograph.

If you wanted the heads all printed on one page like I have just cut out the heads of a photograph, lay them out and scan then print your new page. I actually printed out a practice page so I knew where I was going to lay the stamps.

I had my kids help stamp the different "hats" onto cardstock. I love black and white so I kept it simple with black stamp ink, but you could use different colors or even let the kids help color in the hats.

Next, cut out the stamped images. Arrange the stamped images onto the page however you want them. Then, adhere the images onto the print. I used foam dots for a raised look. I love the layering between the printed page and the stamped images.

Finally frame the image to give as a gift or hang in your own home.

This technique is just so much fun. I have plans for holiday cards and even wrapping paper using these Holiday Hats stamps!

@photochic17 it's even funnier because at least one of their heads is anything but small ;)
