Member Challenge | Penny

This week, our member Penny wants you to gather inspiration from the gallery. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit Penny in the member gallery to see more of her work.

Hello, crafty friends! It's Penny here. I had to get my Mother's Day cards done early because the cards were going inside packages through U.S. Mail. I wanted to decorate the envelopes to match the cards, and I knew I could go a little crazy, since the envelope wasn't being mailed on its own. I was working with the Film Club kits, and I absolutely LOVE the spring stamp set in the scrapbook kit. But it has several pieces that go together to make flowers, and I am quite the amateur stamper and was unsure how to use them. In cases like this, I find the best source of instruction and inspiration is the Gallery, so I went to the Creative Team Gallery and found this page by Catherine Davis: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/186595-blooming. Problem solved!

My challenge for you is to get inspiration from the Gallery for a product or technique you want to use but need a little help. You can go to the Member Gallery or Creative Team Gallery. When you post a link to your project here, also post a link to your inspiration piece. You can use a kit name to search in the Gallery. If you want to pull up a past kit's Creative Team Gallery, just go to the current Reveal gallery, backspace over "jolly-holiday" and type in the name of the kit you want, using a hyphen between words. I hope you find some great inspiration!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Penny's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the Studio Calico gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by May 23 to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the May 28 Layout of the Week post.

I have a difficult time with bright patterned papers, so I searched the CT gallery for help. I lifted a layout of Kelly Noel's.

I came across this stamp set the other day and thought it might be time I figured out how all the pieces jived. I did not remember what add on it came from so I had a difficult time searching the CT gallery for an example. But finally I found one by Kiesha.

She had used the parts to create a hexagon but I decided to keep going and make diamonds.
