July's featured teachers

Documenter Kit Workshop - Stephanie Baxter

Stephanie lives in London with her friends – their house is filled with laughter and silliness on a daily basis. She is currently juggling teaching with setting up her own photography business, and she is thrilled to be making the move toward doing it full-time very soon. Her life experiences have taught her the importance of documenting her story, but while life is so full and hectic, she likes to find ways to keep her memory-keeping as quick and simple as possible. You can also find her teaching over at Big Picture Classes.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I love the fresh, summery feel of the Pool Party kits – the colours especially make me happy just looking at them! In terms of the products, I can’t get enough of the rose-gold washi tape...I literally want to use it on everything! Another favourite item of mine is the silver-embossed palm tree filler card. I wish I had some spares to use for other projects!

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, I’ll be showing you how I like to use patterned filler cards as photo mats. Next up, I’ll be showing you how I utilize flip-up pockets when I want to add an extra photo but don’t want to lose a filler card or journaling spot. And lastly, I’ll be showing you how I changed up a die-cut embellishment with stamping and heat embossing.

Takeaways:

Because I am all about speed and simplicity when it comes to memory-keeping, I hope that people will see that it doesn’t take much time to create pocket pages that are still pretty and lovely to look at. I want to encourage people to see that utilizing the beautiful cards in the kits and minimal embellishing can allow your photos to shine, as well as saving you precious time.

Planner Kit Workshop - Carla De Taboada

Carla is mom to a sweet boy and a lovely girl, and wife to a super-daddy and incredible husband. Living in Lima, Perú, she’s also a philosopher, theologian and a teacher specialist in neuroeducation, but if you ask her she would say she’s just a stay-at-home-mom with a great passion for papers and crafts. Carla loves reading, teaching, cooking, planning and crafting! And she believes that dreams come true!

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I love the mint and foil in this kit! Mint, pink, white and gold are definitely my favorite colors! As soon as I saw the clear pouch full of planner goodies I devised the beautiful mint stickers and it just felt so me! And those foil washis are simply gorgeous! This kit is so versatile! I love that I have a variety of planner supplies that are not only functional, but can also be used to embellish my planner pages.

What she'll be teaching:

Let’s have some fun! In the first lesson, I’ll show you how to use your planner supplies to organize your week, using your washi tapes in creative ways, adding some interactive elements and an idea on how to set up your meal plan. In the second lesson, we'll focus on the summer stamp set from In A Creative Bubble & Studio Calico, and I’ll share with you some ways to create summer patterns and decorate your planner. Finally, in the third lesson, I’ll show you how to make a scrappy Travel Planner using the Add-on Kit and some of the items in the kits. You are going to love it!

Takeaways:

Planner supplies can ignite your creativity! Planning is not only about being organized, but also about getting creative in your planning adding DIY planner elements that will be unique. Having a pretty and well organized planner can keep you motivated and will help you to stay on track every day!

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Nicole Nowosad

Nicole Nowosad lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, with her husband, two boys and daughter. When she is not working full-time, she is running kids to activities and making time to get creative with paper. Nicole has been scrapbooking for over ten years and currently designs for Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine, Jillibean Soup, Shimelle and Fancy Pants Designs. She owns her own digital cut file store, JustNick, that can be used with many electronic die cut machines. You can find more of her work and life on her blog or on Instagram. You can also find a collection of tutorials and process videos on her YouTube channel.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

There were so many fun things in the kit! I particularly love the large alpha cards! They are so fun and whimsical, and are perfect for summer pages! Oh, and those lovely pink graph labels - what's not to love? They are so great to layer over photos or use as a design element on your page. The fun summery transparency is great to add some interesting texture to a project, too! I love how the papers mix so well together in several different color combinations.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we will start with basics by incorporating several products with a grid to design our page and add layers. The second lesson will focus on using patterned stamps to build texture and even create your own paper! Lesson three has a great summery vibe cut file which we will fill using various items found in the kit.

Takeaways:

I think I would like everyone to learn to use items in a kit in different ways. Think outside the box, yet keep it simple at the same time and see what works best for you. Don't over-complicate things and mostly, have fun with it!
