Sunday Sketch | Dana Fleckenstein

This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout with multiple patterned paper stars and word and phrase stickers. Our card sketch is a stamped holiday card with a fun lined envelope, and our pocket page sketch uses two embellished 3" x 4" pocket cards with journaling. Creative Team contributor Dana Fleckenstein is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's card sketch! Be sure to follow Dana here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Kelly Noel's Star layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Merry Christmas card:

Our pocket page sketch comes from Aimee Dow's 5: Minutes Is All It Took. spread:

And here's Dana's take on our card sketch:

Happy Sunday, everyone! I loved Lisa's gallery card and wanted to use it as a starting point for my card, especially since the sketch was a little out of my comfort zone at first. I often put the focal point in the bottom right but rarely in the upper portion of my cards. When I actually started to decide on supplies to create with, I noticed the beautiful foliage cut file by In a Creative Bubble and cut two layers from the 4" x 6" paper pad with my Silhouette Cameo. After layering them slightly offset, things came together very quickly.

I used a sewing machine to attach the die-cuts as a nod to the twine Lisa used, stamped a sentiment from the new Thistle stamp set, and finished the card off with Color Theory sequins and buttons.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I’m looking forward to seeing how you guys use the sketches in your own projects.

Supplies: Paper - 4x6 Paper Pad - November 2016; Stamp Set: 4x6 Thistle by Jasmine Jones; Ink - Color Theory Ink Pad (Inky Black); Digital - Sonnet Cut Files by In a Creative Bubble; Other - Silhouette Cameo, Color Theory Buttons and Sequins (Mint Hint, 24 Karat), sewing machine
