January's featured teachers

Documenter Kit Workshop - Jen Chapin

Jen lives in Iowa with her husband, Adam, and two kids – Keira (7) and Connor (4). By day she's a registered nurse, but on weekends and after her kids are in bed, you'll find her in her scrap room! She's been scrapbooking since 2006, and couldn't imagine her life without this hobby. Her favorite projects to create are layouts and pocket pages. She's currently finishing up grad school, and is busy most evenings shuttling her kids to dance and swimming practice. In her spare time, she likes listening to audio books and podcasts, cooking and trying new recipes, and practicing photography.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

My favorite products in this month’s Documenter Kit are the bold and bright journaling cards, the chipboard pencils, and the One Little Bird die cuts. You'll see me using a lot of them in every project!

What she'll be teaching:

In the workshop, I’ll share three pages  one using the main Documenter Kit only, one including the exclusive class printable, and one using the main kit along with a stamp add-on. The stamp add-ons are fantastic this month! We'll cover everything from altering cards and embellishments to fit your page to creating a spread with no photos.

Takeaways:

My hope is that you can pick up on my pocket page process and translate it to your own scrapbooking style. I am excited to get started!

Planner Kit Workshop - Theresa Doan

Theresa was born and raised in Northern California where she still lives with her husband and three kids. She loves documenting every detail, big or small. She combines her love for planning, scrapbooking and journaling all in her traveler’s notebook.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

My favorite pieces of the Roman Holiday Planner Kit are the A5 papers. There are so many different things you can do with them in your planner. I also really love the color scheme in all of the Roman Holiday kits  they're so colorful without being too bright.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we’ll put together a monthly layout, keeping it simple and highlighting important events. In the second lesson, we’ll use the class printable along with the A5 papers to create a tipped in page to help track our goals for the month. In the third lesson, we’ll create a detailed weekly layout with some fun add-on stamps.

Takeaways:

When creating layouts in your planner, it’s not just about decorating a page and making it pretty  it’s using the elements in the kit to highlight your plans and to keep your planner functional. Keep the pages simple so they’re not overwhelming to the eye.

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Maggie Massey

Maggie is a wife and stay-at-home mom of three, living outside Chicago. She's been scrapbooking since high school when she would cut words and phrases from magazines and add them to photos in the lift-the-plastic-and-put-your-photos-on-the-sticky-page albums. In addition to memory-keeping, she loves to dabble in DIY projects, photography and baking – but her first love is documenting her family's day-to-day lives.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The Roman Holiday Scrapbook Kit is, as usual, wonderful! It's the perfect creative way to start the new year! My very favorite thing in this month's kit is the set of Jasmine Jones chipboard pencil stickers. They are absolutely darling, and they're perfect for using in all sorts of projects! I also LOVE the gold foil and black tags and tabs. They are just the perfect mix of elegant and practical. I've already used most of them, and wish I had a ton more!

What she'll be teaching:

The start of a new year is the perfect time to get creative! It's also the perfect time to put a little focus on you and what you love. In my first lesson, we'll be working with your favorite photo(s), whether you've never scrapped them or they've appeared on your pages dozens of times. The next lesson will focus on creating a 2017 mood board using the main Scrapbook Kit and the class printable. Our final lesson will have you taking those selfies and creating a layout all about you – what inspires you, what's important to you, what you love!

Takeaways:

Every once in a while, it's nice to shift focus and concentrate on things that matter to us, the memory-keepers. Your personal projects don't have to be over-complicated or over-embellished – they can include well-used photos, or no photos at all... they just need to be.
