October's featured teachers

Documenter Kit Workshop - Candace Perkins

Candace is a stay-at-home mom to four crazy boys and wife to the absolute love of her life. She also teaches fitness classes at a local gym in HOT Phoenix, Arizona. She has been doing pocket page scrapbooking for six years and it's her favorite way to document her family’s memories. Currently, she designs for Freckled Fawn, Color Cast Designs, Elle’s Studio, Citrus Twist Kits, and One Little Bird. It is her hope that she can inspire others to notice those moments of everyday perfection and capture, document, and cherish them.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

My favorite parts of the "Gypsy Moon" Kit are, first, the tabs to insert memorabilia right into your pocket page spreads! I always love adding little items from my week and these work great. Second, I love the balance of colors in the kit that allow you to go monochromatic or full on color! Lastly, I adore the stamp this month! I love how versatile it is and you can use it to tell so many different stories.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we'll discuss how to bring a layout together when you're capturing just one event and you want to include simple journaling and memorabilia from your week. In the second lesson, we'll discuss using repeated elements along with a mix of black and white and color photos to balance out a spread. Finally, in the third lesson, we'll discuss creating a monochromatic layout with a mix of stamps, digital journaling, and photos.

Takeaways:

All memories matter—the big and the small. Insert little items of memorabilia from your week to get a real feel of how life is right now. Balance in color and embellishments is key to creating a layout that flows together.

Planner Kit Workshop - Jen Randall

Jen is a creative soul living in southern California with her two kids and very supportive husband. A former elementary teacher turned mixed media artist, Jen loves all kinds of different avenues to express her artistic side. She loves planning, art journaling, pocket scrapbooking, making mini albums, and painting. When she's not creating, you can find her spending valuable time with her family, revamping her home with DIY projects, and snuggling up with a good book.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I love adding different items into my planner each week and with the "Gypsy Moon" Planner Kit, I was super excited to see all the fun pieces. One of my favorite products is the meal planning page! It's such a great functional piece. I can write down my food plan for the week, jot down my grocery list, and pull out the page to take with me to the store. Usually, I write my meal plan along the bottom of each day highlighted with a small sticker. This changed it up a bit and I love that! I also love the addition of navy blue. The deep, rich blue is perfect for autumn and mixes beautifully with the other colors in the kit.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we'll use the "Gypsy Moon" Kit inspiration to create a weekly planner spread using hand-cut leaves and grouping things by three. In the second lesson, we'll use the main Planner Kit and holiday-inspired stamp add-on to jump right into the season with a monthly spread. In the last lesson, we’ll use the class printable and photos to create a planner spread focused on documenting our memories.

Takeaways:

I love using planners to help organize life and document it. There are so many different planner styles and products to use. I would hope students come away feeling inspired to try it all and create their own planner style. Planner pages are a great place to try a new technique or practice something you've been wanting to try. Add pretty paper, layer stickers, practice hand lettering, add pictures, stamp some patterns—be encouraged to try it all! Your planner layouts are unique—just like you.

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Paige Evans

Paige is mom to Fox and Jane and wife to Chris (they recently celebrated their 10th anniversary!). The family just moved back to the USA after being stationed in Germany for four years and are loving living near Seattle for just a year before their next adventure takes them hopefully to Colorado. Paige LOVES scrapbooking, teaching, and traveling! She has designer scrapbooking collections with Pink Paislee called "Fancy Free," "Take Me Away," "Oh My Heart," and "Turn the Page." In addition to scrapbooking, she also loves bookbinding and fine arts. She shares all things crafty and colorful on YouTubeInstagramFacebook, and her blog!

Favorite things about the month's kit:

  • The die-cut and foiled leaves!
  • The COLORS! Oh my goodness!
  • The super cute polka dot patterned transparency!

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, I'll use the main kit only to create an eye-catching border! The second lesson features the exclusive and beautiful class cut file! The third lesson is centered on a large patterned paper title enhanced with stamped embossing!

Takeaways:

I hope you walk away feeling inspired to try some new techniques that you might not have thought to try with the "Gypsy Moon" Scrapbook Kit! Fussy cutting, die cutting, and hand stitching are some of my favorite things to include in scrapbook layouts, and I would love it if you tried them, too!
