Sunday Sketch | Jamie Waters

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout featuring a vertical photo in the lower left-hand corner with layers of patterned paper, embellishments, and a title running vertically up the left side of the page. Our card sketch has grid design of stamped images with a title underneath. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo card and a 3" x 4" title photo with small embellishments. Creative Team member Jamie Waters is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Jamie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Anna-Maria Wolniak's Merry and Bright layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spanger's Thankful Leaves card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Six Flags Christmas spread:

And here's Jamie's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Hi! Welcome to today's blog post. I love doing sketches, as you may know if you've taken my sketch classes here at SC! :) They are rather addicting and can help enormously when you're feeling creatively challenged. My excuse for feeling creatively challenged is because of that giant TO-DO list that comes along during this time of year. I was so thrilled to get such a fun sketch that would translate so well and easily with this month's Scrapbook Kit, "Northern Lights."

I pretty much kept it the same as the sketch except I used all patterned papers. I've been trying to challenge myself not to reach for the white cardstock and this was a great excuse. I love how these patterns go well together. I adored the strips on the side of the photo and thought the kraft sticker was the perfect border along the photo. Adding the half circle with the snowflakes was an easy choice for me. I love the texture that those acrylic shapes bring! And they're dainty enough to just add the right touch and not feel too overpowering. Do you feel inspired to use any of this week's sketches? Be sure to post in the gallery so we can all see how you interpreted the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by December 15th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the December 30th Layout of the Week post.
