Weekly challenge | Allison Waken & Celeste Vermeend

Hi! Allison and Celeste here today with your weekly challenge. This week we have a BIG challenge for you. Are you ready to accept the challenge? Go BIG with a big title. Titles can make a page or can be left out completely but we are challenging you to create a title that is large and in charge.

Quite often when I am scrapping I stick to the motto - less is more. I also try to keep the page about the photo. These generally seem to be guiding principles in most people's scrapbooking. I know these tend to make up my style. But occasionally in honour of changing this up a bit and trying new things I like to shake it up a bit and throw my guidebook out the window!

Going LARGE with a title can sometimes distract from your photo. But if you keep the title simple and direct it can be effective. In my case I kept the title to one simple word - which expresses directly what needs to be said. By overlapping the word onto the photo itself - the eye is drawn to Rylan's photo after reading the title. Perfect!

To create the word SKI - I simply cut the letters on my silhouette cameo and them used them as a mask. When I was finished and the mist was dry. I outlined the letters with a marker. The mist did take much longer to dry on the photo - but it was worth the wait!

With such a large title I deliberately kept the rest of the embellishments to a minimum and I also tried to cluster them together. Which isn't tricky for me - as I do this regularly!!

Allison created a Project Life insert from a recent vacation featuring a big title spread across 2 - 4x6" spaces. She also chose to go big with photos. Go big or go home right?

This challenge can be applied to Project Life, Scrapbook or Card so think big! Can't wait to see what you come up with! Create a new project for this challenge, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by August 5th in the comments for this post to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop

This sounds very fun! :) By the way, the outline for this page says we need to leave links by August 5th but the detail page says by July 29th, which is today!

Here's what I did. I used a big photo and sort of a big title, at least in part. http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/95257-polar-bear-plunge

I double-dipped this week. This layout was for the sketch and the challenge. My title spans most of my 2-page layout...very challenging for me!!!
