workspace wednesday | Nicole Reaves

Hey everyone! Nicole here today with a peek at my scrap space. Come on in!

This room is primarily my scraproom, but is also our guest room a few times a year. It’s a decent sized space for my needs, but every few months or so I get the itch to organize and rearrange. Even if it’s just a basket, a tray or the shelves. Right now, I’m pretty happy with this little space. Here is an overall view of my desk.

My desk is made up of an old IKEA kitchen cabinet and a hollow-core door as a countertop. I painted it semi-gloss white so it is easy to clean and it’s been a nice inexpensive solution to a traditional countertop. I try to keep it as clear as possible (unless I’m in the middle of a project of course), but I like to have everything I need within reach as well. The bulk of my big supplies like paper, ink pads, alpha stickers and adhesive live in the cabinet below.

On the walls are all of my favorite things. The IKEA shelves hold all of my clear stamps, Mister Huey’s, badges and washi. Above that, I display a couple of prints and my favorite wood mounted stamps. The hooks below the shelves each hold a bulldog clip and a Project Life card – where I like to keep track of the projects I’m working on. On the card I note what the project is and the due date (if there is one). Then when I have time to scrap, I can scan the cards and choose a project. Or if I’m going to a crop, I can easily choose what I want to work on and pack accordingly. Major time saver.

Right next to my desk is the infamous IKEA Raskog. Hands down my favorite purchase of 2012. In the top tray I store all of my small loose embellishments in glass baby food jars. Mostly all of my wood veneer, clips and sequins. I also have a tray for printables I’ve trimmed down and loose diecuts, as well as tags and small baggies for Project Life.

Below that I store anything on a sheet – stickers, enamel dots, labels, mistables, etc. – as well as ribbon and twine, packing supplies for my shop, blank Project Life grid cards and Smash pads.

On the bottom I keep my punches, notebooks and paper pads.

Something I recently added were the hooks behind my door. I organized my crop bags by what was inside them – collections, kits, personal projects and seasonal (like leftover December Daily supplies) – and slid the bags on hangers to hang on the hooks. It’s out of sight for the most part, but I know exactly where to find what I need, when I need it.

On the adjacent wall is a bookshelf I store my current Project Life album. I added a piece of white Corian to the top of the bookshelf so I can keep my album open. Below that I store the box lids that the big packs of Project Life page protectors come in. I was lucky that they are a perfect fit! Right now I am using them to store memorabilia, artwork and my daughter’s childhood pages that need a home in an album. Other than that, the shelves are full of completed scrapbooks, mini albums and idea books. Right now I also have a handful of goodies out, just calling for me to finish my This is Me album.

Thanks so much for taking a peek into my room! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
