Sunday Sketch | Aleksandra

This week,we asked Aleksandra Gadji (SC username Alex) to join us by sharing her take on our sketches. She has a knack for adding details that draw you right in, so we couldn't wait to see her interpret our sketches!

Here's a look at the sketches - our layout sketch is based on a design by guest designer Anabelle O'Malley

And our card sketch is based on this card by Lisa Spangler:

Let's have a look at Alex's use of the sketch...

Supplies: Valley High kit and add-ons, SC cork arrows, SC wooden heart, SC Mister Huey's Buttercup, Black Silhouette sketch pen

I loved both sketches, but chose to use the card sketch for my layout. I just multiplied the circles to fill out my page. I first drew the circles on a white cardstock with my Cameo and then cut them using the outline feature in the Silhouette Studio. I wanted to keep the rectangular feeling of the sketch, so I cut a white cardstock down to 8.5 inches to use it as a base of my design. To frame it a bit, I placed my journaling along the edges. As a background I used the OA Travel Girl alpha sheet that came in one of the add-ons. It felt like a right choice since my layout is about my daughter learning to write. The pictures I've scrapped are her little notes that all the sudden started to pop-up all around the house. Seeing the first one (the black one saying "flea market open") was a real OMG-experience to me :-) I punched out the letters OMG  from the Subway Token paper from one of the add-ons, using the Epiphany Crafts Round 25 shape. The "OMG" is my "sentiment" inspired by the sketch. I used the cork arrows from SC to draw the eye to the photos. One little wooden SC heart embellishes my favorite of her notes. It says "Knock on Linnea's door". I laughed when I saw it on the outside of her door. I mean, really? Already?? She's just turned 5! :-)

See what we mean about her knack for details?! And how simple is it to use the black Silhouette sketch pen to continue your theme?! Everything adds up to a beautiful page filled with bits and pieces to glance over...AMAZING work, Alex!

Thanks for sharing your work today, Alex! If you'd like to see more of Alex's work, stop by her Studio Calico Gallery or her blog

Now it's your turn! Make a project with using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave  us a link to your project by September 23rd in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

    HELLO!!

    http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/98144-tataraabuela-great-great-grandmother

This is the page to perform to tell a story that deserves to be told! My son's young said that he was the child more loved in the world!... And when one asked him because? Answered, because I have to Grandma so that I love!
Love the link that she was created from the first day that they were! They had all the time in the world for single play, and so shared over 11 years!
