Sunday Sketch | Charissa
This week,we asked Charissa Miller (SC username CharissaM) to join us by sharing her take on our sketches. We fell in love with her bright, detailed layouts and couldn't wait to see what she'd make!
Here's a look at the sketches - our layout sketch is based on a design by Becky Novacek :
And our card sketch comes from Jen Jockisch :
Charissa took both of the sketches and turned them into two coordinating pages that tell the story of one fabulous event! I love this idea - it gives you a lot more design flexibility than a traditional two page layout, but still gives you the room for more journaling and photos. Using one kit for both layouts ties these two designs together visually, and they'll look great side by side in her album!
(supplies : kits - Studio Calico Marks & Co kits & add-ons)
After I looked at Becky's layout, I saw where she mentioned doing a coordinating page with a larger photo to go with it. I immediately thought the card sketch would work perfectly to create a larger photo page. I had the photo of my daughter hugging her very special baseball and I knew it was exactly the right photo for the large photo page. I didn't have as many photos as the sketch, so I cut out squares of patterned paper to add some interest and places to add more embellishments. I kept the layouts clean to really let the photos shine and tell the story. :D I don't really view them as a two page layout - but truly as two coordinating pages that will sit side by side in my album.
Thanks for sharing your work today, Charissa! If you'd like to see more of Charissa's work, stop by her Studio Calico Gallery or her blog.
Now it's your turn! Make a project with using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by September 16th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

I was so inspired by the other entries that I wanted to play along. My card is similar to the card layout with some elements the same-- I basically turned the layout upside down. I really liked this layout!
