Sunday Sketch | Bernadette

Tags:

This week, Bernadette (SC username scrap2010) is joining us with her take on our sketches. Her pairing of colors with neutrals stands out in the gallery, and I was eager to see her take on one of our sketches.

Here's a look at this week's sketches - our layout sketch comes from Shanna Noel's gallery:

And the card sketch is from Lea Lawson's gallery:

Bernadette chose to work with the sketch layout, translating it into 12x12...I love all of the texture on her project, created primarily with paper!

Supplies: Marks & Co Scrapbook Kit

When I got the sketch I was very excited because instantly I had a clear idea in my mind. After I selected the photo for my page and the paper from the Double Scoop Scrapbook Kit I knew that I wanted to translate the sketch into a 12x12 page. First I used my Gelatos to create an extra layer on my background. I loved all the rectangles Shanna used and incorporated them into my page by cutting the paper in rectangles of different sizes. I matted my photo on tissue paper and wrapped Bakers Twine around it. At the end I used my beloved Amy Tangerine stitching template from the Marks & Co Scrapbook Kit to create my title.

Bernadette's use of random sized pieces of the same patterned paper makes a great base for her photo, and the distressing of the cardstock and papers adds a simple bit of texture!! Thanks so much for joining us this week, Bernadette!! If you'd like to see more of her work, please check her SC gallery or her blog.

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by November 11th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.
