Sunday Sketch | Mary-Ann

Tags:

This week, Mary-Ann (SC username mary-ann) is joining us with her take on our sketches. She scraps mostly 'boy' pages, so I love seeing her twist on things...and was super excited to invite her to join us this week :)

Here's a look at this week's sketches - our layout sketch comes from Geralyn Sy's gallery:

And the card sketch is from Robyn Werlich's gallery:

Mary-Ann couldn't stop at just one project, so she whipped up THREE!!

Smolak Farms was created using Cuppa and Chai add on, SC Opaque Gems and Woodgrain thickers. I turned this sketch to the side. This card sketch is PERFECT for a layout. It helps you cram lots of favorite pictures from an event on one page. My small squares are 2x2's, large enough to see clearly and leaves me plenty of room for embellishments. I had to use the apple paperclips from the Chai add-on!! My acetate was trimmed down to the same size as my small photos and attached by sewing.

For My True North, I chose to slice some of the existing lines of the paper with my x-acto knife, I then backed this side with the remaining gray paper, used my fingernail to lift the edges and sewed around some of the circles within the paper design. I randomly placed SC opaque gems, layered papers, tags and blocks behind the photo to highlight. My vellum was again attached by sewing. It is very similar to the sketch but completely different at the same time. I let the existing paper be the star. It is perfectly fitting for anything that is the center of your world!

Instead of squares, I repeated circles and use a grid background. I trimmed out the circle that was originally a square, sewed to attach my vellum and used foam tape for dimension.

Supply List: Cuppa Scrapbook Kit, Double Scoop Scrapbook Kit, Chai add-on, Opaque Gems

I always love to see someone take a sketch and make it their own...and especially love all of the fine details that Mary-Ann puts into her projects. Thanks so much for joining us this week, Mary-Ann!! If you'd like to see more of her work, please check her SC galleryor her blog.

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery.
