December Daily™ | Cindy Backstrom

Tags:

Last week, we asked you to show off your December Daily™ - and you answered the call! Our gallery and instagram feed filled up with inspirational designs tagged with #decdailycover. Cindy Backstrom (SC username cinback) was our lucky winner - and she's joining us today with a tutorial on how her beautiful cover came together.

The gold trend grabbed me this year and I decided to make it a feature in my December Daily 2013 album.

After masking off the chipboard section of the cover, I sprayed the red fabric of my Studio Calico album with a metallic gold spray paint, followed by painting my chipboard sections with white acrylic paint.

I found a wood veneer wreath at Michaels and again, to incorporate gold, I embossed sections of my wreath with alternating gold and silver embossing powder. To bring in a touch of colour, I adhered blue enamel dots in various spots around my wreath. In the centre, I placed chipboard letters which I had painted white and that same blue to match.

I've got only one word - WOW!! I know we've had a lot of questions on the message board about recoloring the fabric spine of the Handbook - it looks like spray paint is the perfect answer.

After seeing Cindy's cover, we were dying to peek inside her album. We weren't disappointed - her pages have the same quiet elegance that her cover does. Gorgeous! If you'd like to see more of her album, stop by her Studio Calico gallery. Be sure to follow her so you won't miss any updates!

Thank you for sharing your album with us, Cindy! And to everyone else - you might want to pop over to Cindy's blog for a fun giveaway. ;)
