Sunday Sketch I Kasia

This week, Kasia (SC username, Antilight) is sharing her take on our sketches! If you haven't yet been to Kasia's gallery, you're in for a real treat! Her attention to detail is amazing and her gallery is full of inspiring projects. We love her contributions to our gallery and couldn't wait to see what she'd do with this inspiration.

First, let's look at this week's sketches - our layout comes from Celeste Vermeend's "Jem Joy" :

And our card sketch comes from Robyn Werlich's Be Merry card:

Here are Kasia's takes on the sketches:

For this page I simplified the initial map a little bit. I connected four cards into a one long piece of paper (love the wide chevron BTW) to unify the composition more. I wanted to focus on the photo I chose. I also wanted to use one of the Printshop vellum shapes so I change the journalling from the map into a speech bubble title. The journalling on the other hand is hidden under the photo on Amy Tan tag. I wish the photo showed how sparkly winter wonderland is behind me but it doesn’t that’s why I used the Heidi Swapp glitter stickers to remind me of this beautiful scenery. Last but not the least the colors of my page are inspired by colors from the photo, I like how warm and cold tones compliment each other in here.

Supplies: papers: White card stock by Rapa Kiwi; Studio Calico Printshop (water-color, Sunday best); BLUE NOTE: kit Basic Grey RSVP (pinata); Vellum; Webster’s Pages white star overlay; embellishments: Studio Calico Printshop Die-Cut, badge ; LillyBee Design Buttercup ABC Stickers; MARK”S & CO: American Crafts Amy Tan Cut & Paste Abbreviated Tags; BENNETT Heidi Swapp Glitter Stickers, Confetti Rub Ons; October Afternoon Sprinklers Rocket Age (night Sky) Boarding Pass (Frequent Flyer); Gesso, Magic glue; 3E sticker foams; ribbon Michales; silver and white thread

When making cards I like to use simple compositions and lean forward to C&S style, and this map based on Robyn’s work was just perfect. I just rotated it by 90 degrees and followed the sketch. The Studio Calico Printshop collection is so beautiful that I had to add additional layer to my card to feature more of their papers. I decided to use calm colors with a bold golden doily to enrich the card, a hint of red from sprinklers and in paper is inspired by Robyn’s work and adds to a festive but subtle mood of my card.

Supplies: papers: water-color card stock; Studio Calico Printshop (water-color, To the moon and back); SINATRA kit Alison Kreft for Webster Pages (Sunset); BLUE NOTE kit Basic Grey RSVP (pinata); embellishments: Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper Flea Market (ephemera golden doily); Golden baker’s twine; DOUBLE SCOOP kit Pebbles From me to you date stamp; MARK’S & CO. LifeLovePaper + Studio Calico badge; October Afternoon 5 & Dime Sprinkler (Red Wagon); Heidi Swapp Color Shine (mustard); Tim Holtz Distress Ink (tea dye); Magic glue; 3D sticker foams

We are such fans of Kasia's work and these projects were no exception! She did such an amazing job with both of the sketches. Thank you for joining us this week, Kasia! If you'd like to see more of Kasia's work, follow her here at Studio Calico and check out her blog.
