Weekly Challenge | Gillian Nelson

Tags:

Hi, everyone! This week I'm challenging you to use repeated shapes as a design element for your layout. I loved the chevron pattern of the Printshop line as the background for my page, because it simulated my son's goofy elevator jumping motion. I hand cut multiple wonky chevrons to further play on the feeling of up-and-down motion, and even cut into the top and bottom edges of the photo to carry through the repeated use of the chevron shapes. So you can do something like I did here and be inspired by a shape in your chosen patterned paper, or just create a design element of your own, but whatever you do, repeat repeat repeat. :)

Supplies used: patterned paper -- Printshop Watercolors, Printshop 6x6 Paper Pad, Printshop Hello Lady, Printshop Criss Cross; embellishments -- Wood Veneer Printshop Circles, Printshop Paper Clips, Printshop Sequin Pack, Printshop Mini Badges; letter stickers -- Printshop Doodle Thickers; ink -- StazOn Jet Black; pen -- Precision Pen 0.5; glue -- Martha Stewart Glue Pen

Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by December 16th to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop!
