LOTW I Sandy

Our Layout of the Week, Munich Cafe, comes from our member Sandy, SC username Sandyang. Sandy's layout shines with it's linear style and creative journaling. Her gallery is really a treat to look at, so to see more of Sandy's work and to keep up with her, follow her here at SC and stop by her blog.

Here's what Sandy has to say about her layout:

Although I don't do project life, I am inspired by some of it's core ideas. Ideas like a chronological series of photos depicting the course of an ordinary day. This 8.5"x11" version of a project life spread is based on the concept of a timeline, capturing snippets of a morning, in words and pictures, at half hourly intervals. So running down the right-hand side of the page are short commentaries on five photographs laid out in a rhythmical sequence across the entire width of the page, such that they resemble a scrolling series of unframed slides. More narrative style journaling is placed below the photographs to add weight to the bottom of the page and to emphasise the horizontal flow. The only embellishments on the page are some black-and-white pattern strips cut from a single piece of Printshop Criss Cross paper. Showing only skinny, little slivers of the paper allows me to get three different looks from this one paper. Nothing is wasted, I've even used the 0.5"inch label strip, turning the Studio Calico logo into an organic flourish pattern.

Congratulations Sandy!! More members added this project to their inspiration books for the week of 2.4 - 2.10 than any other, making it our layout of the week! You have won a $10 gift card to be used on any new purchase at Studio Calico.

Want a chance to win next week? We love our creative community, and invite you to be a part of it. Share your work in the Studio Calico member gallery, and don't forget to take the time to add your favorites to your own inspiration book.

We have a new set of winners - CONGRATS to all of you!! If your name is on this list, you'll be getting an email from us with info about your prize. Thank you again to all who take part in our challenges and giveaways!
