Each week, Studio Calico brings you three sketches based on projects from our Creative Team. This week, our layout sketch is a two-page 8.5x11 layout with multiple photos and full page title. Our card sketch features a tag and star embellishment & our Project Life sketch uses a square photo. Creative Team member, Kim Stewart, is joining us this week & sharing her take on our card sketch! Be sure to follow Kim here at Studio Calico to see more of her work and keep up with her.
First, let's look at this week's sketches - our two-page 8.5x11 layout sketch comes from Ali's Today You layout:

Our card sketch comes from Jenn Picard's Happy Everything card:

And our Project Life sketch comes from Deb Duty's March Project Life spread:

And here's Kim's take on our card sketch:

For this layout I wanted to use a few elements from the sketch and then take it in my own direction. I don't often use stars much on my layouts so I thought why not use and unfamiliar element. The stars from the star card immediately made me think of the watercolor stars from the camelot add-on Guinevere! I painted the map paper from the Camelot kit with gesso to create a soft layered effect. I kept to the sketch by machine sewing a white tag to the page along with my photo. The fun came in when I started painting all these little stars! I painted some of them with watercolors in a cool teal and few with a light yellow. If you don't have enough of a certain element just cut a few more from cardstock or watercolor paper using your existing stars as a template. One little element can make magic on a page! Have fun and can't see what you all create using these sketches!
Supples: Kits -Camelot, Guinevere; Watercolor paper; Gesso; White tags
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by May 26th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

I expanded Ali's sketch to a 12x12. I kept the left side as is and modified the right side, still keeping the idea of a circle as the background. This was a SLOW page to make! But I really love the sketch and the result!
