Mister Huey's Tutorial | Geralyn Sy
Tags:

The first thing I pulled out was the plastic ampersand and eight pieces of white cardstock, cut to 2.75 x 3.25 inches.

Then I went through my Mister Huey;s collection and picked mist eight colors I wanted to use. (Left-right: Mixed Tape, Bonny Blue, Clay, Boss Lady, Mint Julep, AppleJack, Lemonade & Sherbet).

Inside a box, I lay down the ampersand on one piece of white cardstock, and misted about 8-10 inches away from my paper.

I carefully removed the ampersand and wiped it clean with a damp cloth. The result is a beautifully masked ampersand on my cardstock.

I repeated this process of masking and misting with all my other pieces of white cardstock and Mister Hueys to get eight colorful pieces.

I arranged the ampersands to form a grid on a sheet of 8.5x11 inch cardstock, which is the base of my layout. I’ve left the middle space blank because I know that is where I’ll be placing my photo.

I printed out my photograph to fit in one of the chipboard frames included in the Dickinson add-on, and I adhered it to the center of my layout.

I went through the kits and added a couple more embellishments, including a gold foil ‘hello’, rub-ons right on my photo, and some cute word stickers.

Since there was extra room at the bottom of my layout, I added a rub-on and a calendar die-cut strip. I finished the layout off with a scatter of gold sequins. I love that after completing this layout, I still have that ampersand embellishment to use for future projects!

Supplies :Poet Society Scrapbook kit - rub-ons; Dickinson – chipboard, stickers; Alcott – ampersand; Whitman – die-cuts; Oliver – stickers, rub-ons; Yeats – die-cut; cardstock – American Crafts; sequins – Studio Calico; mist- Mister Huey's Color Mists

Geralyn, did the paint leave any permanent stains on the ampersand or was it as white as before after you misted it and wiped it off?

@paperpilekitten It remained white! I also washed the ampersand with a bit of soap and any remaining ink washed right off. I'm not sure if it would differ if I had used darker mist colors, but of the ones I used they didn't stain.
