Pinterest Inspired Card | Dana Fleckenstein

Like many of you, I have some more holiday cards on my list, and finding a design that can be replicated easily is very welcome. Bonus points if it's flat for mailing!

Studio Calico's Pinterest boards are a great starting point to find inspiration for a project. My search focus was on clean and simple compositions so that the card can be mass produced with a little variation here and there to keep it interesting. The final inspo piece came from Studio Calico's brush script trend board. When clicking through to the original source, I even found a beautiful gold foil version of the card I picked and wanted to combine both samples into my own card design.

Here's one of my inspiration cards.

The script patterned paper in Studio Calico's November Walden Card kit was perfect to use for the card background. I also picked Marcy's Holiday & New Year's stamp set - a personal favorite this month - for the sentiment and embossed it in gold to mimic the gold foil script of my inspiration piece.

At this point, you can strictly go by the inspiration cards and emboss the sentiment on a bold color cardstock. However, to show you what I meant by variation above, I chose to heat emboss on vellum instead. Then I spray misted the patterned paper behind the sentiment for contrast and flipped the orientation of the card. You could also switch out the sequins for enamel dots, etc. It's a simple step, but it will make sure you don't get bored by making the same card over and over again for everyone. After all, crafting should be fun! :)

And here is my final card.

Now, what's your favorite way to find inspiration? How does Pinterest inspire your craft projects? Please share in the comments!

I'm thinking I like your card, way more than your inspiration card. And I quite liked your inspiration card!

Beautiful brush script. I really love your handwriting. Love the color of the background paper for your card, too. Really lovely.

@mtercha Thank you! I wish this were my handwriting but it's far from it ;)
