Hybrid Scrapbook and Project Life® Project | Brooke Takara
Hey SC friends! Let's kick things off with a fun Scrapbook/Project Life® 2 page spread using the leftover bits from my Far Far Away main Scrapbook and Project Life® kits.
The subject matter and title of my project were taken from the "This year, I want to _________" card. I filled the card in with the word "make" using the rubber alpha from the Project Life® main kit and everything fell into place.
I knew I wanted to use photos of some of my past projects in the 3x4 pockets and have the focus of this layout be some of my creative goals for this year.
Highlighted some key words from my written goals with the grey alpha from the Scrapbook main. Love those.
Whenever I'm working on a hybrid Scrapbook and Project Life® two-page spread, I always start with the traditional scrapbook layout first. I get the layout to about 95% complete and then start on the Project Life® side. This is so I can add little finishing touches here and there to both sides, creating visual triangles across the entire spread, to tie it all together. There are four different groupings used throughout this spread to purposefully keep your eyes moving around. Do you see them?
For contrast, I used the dark blue patterned paper to matte the photos on both sides to keep your focus across the center of the spread and on the photos. So basically, in addition to moving your eyes around the entire spread, I also wanted you to stop and place your focus across the center of the spread. A little bit of mind-foolery going on there. ;)
Besides basics like adhesive and cutting tools, all products used here are from the Studio Calico Far Far Away Scrapbook main and Project Life® main kits. I still have so much leftover and can probably make 3-4 more projects using just those two main kits!
I hope this blog post has inspired you to get creative with your Project Life® albums this year. Who says you have to stick with just one page protector style? Or even just pocket page protectors? If you feel inclined to make a scrapbook layout, go for it! And add it right into your album.
Let me know if you have any questions in the comments section. Thank you so much for spending some time with me here today! Have a fabulous day!!

Where does the twenty fifteen font comes from?

@scoubidine, it's an acetate card in the Project Life main kits for this month, designed by Jasmine Jones (@jasminenora), one of the members of Studio Calico's design team :)

I'm very interested in the page protector you used. Is that a 12x12 that you cut, or something new (at least to me) from Becky Higgins? Thanks!

@junea It's a Design A protector that I cut and sewed. I sewed the slots for the bottom left pockets also. The bottom left pocket already has a card on the opposite side for the next spread, since I had to sew that one shut to allow for the floating hearts section. Hope this helps!

This is so beautiful, and really inspiring for me. I have yet to do a more traditional scrapbook layout, and I really love the mix of them with PL. Love your style!
