Weekly Challenge | Complete the Look with Donya

This week, our member Donya (username donyaluana), is challenging you to use a common technique or product throughout your project to create a unified look. We love our talented members! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Donya here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her!

Hi all! Wow, I'm incredibly honored to be chosen to create this week's challenge as there is just so much talent in the member gallery each and every day. This Project Life spread is one of my favorites. Once I had chosen the photos and journaling cards, I still felt something was missing from the spread. I think it had a lot to do with all the white space. While I had purposely chosen cards that allowed the photos to shine in this spread, I was looking for something to tie the whole spread together. So I added a few black paint splatters to 3 of the cards! This is such a simple technique but it totally helped me feel that the spread was much more complete. My challenge for you is to use a technique (like adding sequins, a similar embellishment shape, the same font or alpha stickers, or paint splatters) on a few different areas throughout a spread to unify and complete the look. I can't wait to see what you come up with in the gallery!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Donya's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by March 2nd and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the March 6th Layout of the Week post.

I love this page! This kit totally made me think of Disney colors from the sneaks and I was so excited to see you using it for your Disney photos. I've always thought SC would do a Disney-ish kit really, really cool & modern. This kit totally satisfied my curiosity and proved me right ;)

It's so funny, because it didn't even occur to me that they were disney colors till I finished the page! I just knew those stars were the perfect backdrop.

I used the rose gold stars and the word strips to tie the top and bottom parts of this layout together

I didn't make the deadline, but I did make a layout. Better late than never!
