This week, our layout sketch is an 12x12 layout with pretty patterns and a powerful message. Our card sketch features lovely pinked circles, layering and a bit of thread and our Project Life sketch uses a paint splattered journaling card and a photo. Creative Team member, Kelly Noel, is joining us this week & sharing her take on our scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Kelly here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our 12x12 layout sketch comes from Jamie Waters' You Can Do It layout:
Our card sketch comes from Emily Branch's You Make Me card:

Our Project Life sketch comes from Maggie Massey's Project Life spread:

I always love the chance to work with a sketch. I find it's a great jumping off point for any project and I love how even though it starts out being inspired by the sketch, it often times turns out looking completely different! I loved elements from all three sketches, but I was really inspired by the composition of the scrapbook sketch. Jamie's layout is stunning and I knew I wanted to stick pretty close to the sketch for my layout.
I used papers from the Odyssey Kits that complemented my photo and created a similar layout at the bottom of my page just like the sketch. I decided to make my papers a little less linear and titled them and layered them just slightly for my layout. I loved Jamie's journaling placement and I used my large format printer to print directly onto my patterned paper background highlighting some of Sawyer's favorite words at the moment. I used the big quotation marks from the Odyssey Scrapbook Kit to go along with the "talking" theme.
Supplies: Kits - Odyssey Scrapbook Kit, Penelope Add-on Kit, Calypso Add-on Kit; stamp - Laina Alpha Stamp Set; other - stapler
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Monday card, top right on 1st page uses the PL sketch. Where the sketch had the 1/2 circle "arch", I used the Arch stamps.
