Use Your Stash to Make a Mixed Media Layout | Lilin Fang
Before the new Lisse Street kits arrive at your doorstep, how about making one more layout with an old kit? Join me today as I share my layout process with you. I will be using a mix of Cirque, Lisse Street Scrapbook kits, the Little Things Stamp and adding lots of color with the Color Theory paints.
I will be using the Color Theory paints and a stencil to create a background for my layout. I gathered a rainbow of colors that I will be working with, and now we are good to go!
Start with a piece of white cardstock and hold the stencil in place with washi tape. Use a brush to fill each of the hearts with paint. I used a considerable amount with each brush stroke as I knew I would like to create an impasto effect.
Continue with each of the colors until the background is complete. Let the paint dry. You will be happy to know that the paint dries fairly quickly and that it dries with a shiny finish.
Next, I stamped the flowers from The Little Things stamp on a piece of white cardstock with black ink and fussy cut them. I made 3 bouquets of flowers and set them aside.
Now I started to put the layout together by placing my photo in the middle, then adhering the stamped flowers as a border under my photo. I used the foam tab squares here to add some dimension to the flowers. I chose to leave the flowers in black and white to give contrast against the colorful hearts. I also added a tag and flair from Ringmaster and Flying Trapeze add-ons.
To balance out the white space below the rainbow hearts, I added some of the gold foil sentiments from the Cirque Scrapbook kit.
I added some ink splatters with mist and big round brush.
I also added a date stamp and bits and pieces from the Lisse Street Scrapbook kit to finish off the layout.
I hope you're inspired to get out your paints and past kits and give this technique a try. I'd love to see how your mixed media layouts come together. Link to them in the comments! Thanks for stopping by!

I love that the flowers aren't colored in. I would have gone for the obvious and colored in the flowers but the bit of color showing through behind them is really pretty. Love this!
