Weekly Challenge | Photos and Words
This week, our member Brandi (username Brandeye8), is challenging you to dust off all of those extra photos and add them to a page with your favorite quote!! We love how she included a glimpse at the everyday with her photos! Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure visit Brandi to see more of her work and keep up with her!
Hi, Everyone! I am a scrapbooker, Project Lifer, and doodler in the farthest corner of Washington State. I am so excited bring you this week’s challenge, especially since this entire layout was a challenge I posed to myself recently: use up those leftover photo bits!
Misprinted photos, the scraps left after cropping, that double you printed by mistake – put them to work instead of throwing them away, or, if you’re like me, hoarding them for fear of being wasteful or because you are just sure you’ll use them someday. As someone who has my photos printed locally, I am always trying to make the most of each one. For this layout, I pulled all those bits together and noticed they told a bigger story once they were grouped on the page. As a tried and true English major all the way through grad school, I am also a voracious reader and lover of words, so you’ll find quotes all throughout my layouts and Project Life, and this one is no different. I love to let the quote be a centerpiece that helps bring all of the various photo or paper scraps and journaling together.
To make this Monday task more interesting, I am challenging you to not only use a variety of the photos or photo scraps you have collecting dust, but to pair them with a favorite quote to tie it all together. I am so excited to see what you create and what words speak to your stories and photos!
Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Brandi's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by April 20th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the April 25th Layout of the Week post.
I love this layout! One of my favorite challenges by far!

Love this! How fun...I've got a favorite quote in mind....now to gather the pictures! I have lots of photos that required "do overs" that I hate to throw out!

This is such a tough challenge! I have many discarded photos on my desk with nothing in common. This will take some creative thought. Love your beautiful LO!

Brandi this is just a wonderful layout! I love the patterned paper you used that alludes to your whole world, the stitching, the wonderful bits of photos. So clever!

@carlam, Thank you! I hadn't even thought about that pattern in that way, but I love that view of it!

I used little photo bits from Christmas Day, cut into circles, with a quote about family Christmas: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/161278-family-christmas-2014

I used a photo I never really planned to scrap, and a quote from Roseann Barr. Thanks for the great challenge! :)
