Weekly Challenge | Keep It Simple
Tags:
I’ve been a subscriber to Studio Calico PL kits since January 2014 and I love these kits. They are so inspiring. This is my second year doing Project Life and today I’m here to issue a challenge based off my Layout “My Happy Place.” There are two main focuses for me when I’m documenting my stories: keep it simple & make it pretty. The story for this layout is simple… Beer. I really enjoy trying new foods and drinks, and couldn’t wait to document the Beirgarten I went to. For this layout I tried to include just about equal parts photos and filler cards. Most of my cards have no more than one embellishment each, which I like because it allows me to focus on my photos while still being appealing to the eye. I also challenged myself by using colors that don’t come easy to me (orange/red). I pulled from a lot of different kits, but mostly the Carolina Moon kit for embellishments and cards. I have to say I really love the way this one came out.
Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Jenny's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by June 15th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the June 20th Layout of the Week post.

I made this layout a few days ago and it fits the challenge perfectly, it is extremly simple and I did use a color that I don't use very often (blue). :)

I used pink in this challenge, which is not my favorite color, and based my layout on a sketchbook class sketch by Kelly Purkey. I was amazed how the pink emphasized the colors in my photos.

This is probably the simplest spread I've done to date. Last week of my 2014 album and I just wanted it done. Mostly B&W. The wreath embellishment is from the previous week showing through.

I made two simple pages with hardly no embellies...this will be an insert in between 2 12x12 layouts to help get extra photos in the album. I loved that large yellow summer card but I wasn't sure about the multi-colored card. http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/166773-summer-2013-pl-pages

Just a strip of patterned paper, and a couple embellies. :)

Great challenge! I kept mine really simple, using just paper, some PL cards, and 2 stickers. It's very hard for me to use light blue, but it goes well with the Father's Day paper: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/167183-d-is-for-dad
