Tutorial: Creative Use of Envelopes with Jenn Picard

When I first set out to start a project I gather all of my supplies together. For this card that included a mix of ink pads, papers, a card base from the Fairground card kit, small piece of watercolor paper and a water brush.

I started with the card base and stamped the main sentiment then added the party hat image using Clear Blue Color Theory Ink. I stamped the image once on scrap paper to create a lighter shade of blue.

I love adding watercolor to my paper crafts and one really quick and easy way to do this is using dye based inks. Naturally that meant the Color Theory Inks work perfect for this. I just press the lid against the pad when it is closed then open it up and use the ink that is on the inside of the lid.

After I colored the cupcake with Orange County and Crème Brulee Inks, I then watered colored all around the image using Clear Blue.

I love adding a little something to the inside of card too. With the longer card base it was easy to create a pocket using to strips of patterned paper. I over lapped two 1 1/4 x 6 inch strips and just added adhesive to the outside edges.

This sized card is perfect to add some money for the birthday boy or girl. I know that especially with my son and his friends (12 year olds) that they love getting cash to spend where ever they want.

Here's a close up of the finished card

Adding a little stamping and a small star to the envelope helps tie it all together and create fun birthday card.
