Weekly Challenge | Grids and Papers

This week, our member Michelle (username MichelleWedertz), is challenging you to grab your favorites patterned papers and create a grid on your projects! Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure visit MichelleWedertz to see more of her work and keep up with her.

For me, the best part of the Scrapbook Kit is the patterned paper. Don't get me wrong, I love embellishments and alphas too, but since paper is always the foundation of any of my projects, it ranks number one on my list of favorite scrapbooking supplies. Occasionally though, I run into the tough task of picking and choosing just two or three papers for a layout when I really want to use them all! When this happens, instead of eliminating paper choices, I go ahead and use them all-but in small quantities. For my layout Collect Moments, I pulled out my square punch and went to work creating a simple grid layout that featured the fun papers from the Fairground Kit. Since the squares were small and laid out in a simple design I didn't overwhelm the photo with the variety of patterned paper. My challenge for you is to embrace all the patterns and create a grid design on your project using at least four different patterned papers.

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Michelle's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery(add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by August 31st and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the September 4th Layout of the Week post.

    I love grids
Today I used the Hockney embellishment kit for my four patterns and papers from both the pop art scrapbook kit and card kit.

I used Carolina Moon, which I had sort of neglected for a while: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/172734-a-coke-a-smile
