Our Layout of the Week, Handprints, comes from our member Steffie (username steffievandenakker). Steffie's unique handprint Project Life® layout captured the attention of the Studio Calico community with its elements from the February Cirque Project Life® kit and the June Galileo Project Life® kit. I love taking handprints of my two young sons. They grow so quickly and I can imagine it will be fun to look back at them when they get older. Sometimes, I frame them, but this time I wanted to include them in my Project Life® album, along with some facts about them the way they are right now. These handprints were made using a water-based block print ink and a roller. You can get these online or in art stores and you'll also need something to spread your ink on (even a plate will do). What I love about using this ink instead of paint, is that you can clearly see the fingerprints and other fine lines. You can clean the hands using water and soap. My boys love having these taken, so that made making this spread extra fun. Prints like these also make a nice gift or card to send to relatives/friends. Because the prints are so graphic, I combined them with some white cards but chose to also include some with pops of colors to keep the spread from looking too busy.
