Tutorial: Using the Lollipop Guild Scrapbook Kit with Kelly Noel

I love working with the main kits each month and they are often my favorite part of my monthly box! The December kit is a special one — so bright and festive and fun! I really love it! I always start by choosing some of the papers and embellishments I think I'll use first. By taking anything out that you don't truly love or don't think you'll use for this particular project, you save a lot of time shuffling things around once you get started.

I knew I wanted to use some fun party type photos with the bright and cheery photos, so I pulled some of my favorite photos of my husband and I and our best friends from the past year. I used picmonkey.com to create a collage of the photos and I purposely left some of the squares blank so that I could fill them in with patterned paper and other embellishments.

Once I had created the collage, I saved it to my computer and then brought it into Photoshop where I converted the whole thing into black and white. Since I knew I was going to be using lots of bright colors and patterns, I decided that black and white photos would help them to stand out and not get lost amongst all the busy-ness.

Once I had my photo printed, I trimmed it down to size.

Next, I trimmed several different patterned papers into small 1.5" x 1.5" squares and placed them in the empty squares. I also used the epoxy "party" word as my title and placed it overlapping some of the photos.

Once, I had all of the patterned paper bits adhered down, I added a simple "yes" sticker to my title for some added oomph.

To finish the layout off, I cut a 2.5" square from the black and gold foil patterned paper and then cut it in half diagonally to create large photo corners. I placed each on one side of the photo/patterned paper square for some added detail.

Before gluing everything down, I typed up some journaling and ran the background cardstock through my printer to make things quick and easy. Once that was finished, I adhered the photo collage and photo corners and this layout was finished!
