Studio Calico at CHA

Last month, the Studio Calico team traveled to Anaheim, Calif., for CHA. Marketing coordinator Christie Spitler and education manager Lisa Truesdell share some of their experiences and pictures from the fun-filled work trip!

From Christie:

On Jan. 7, our team flew out to Anaheim for the 75th annual CHA Mega Show. As the largest craft industry trade show in North America, this weekend was jam-packed with showcasing new products, learning new techniques, discovering new trends and meeting new and old friends in the industry. After a full day of assembly—complete with crafting last-minute details—our booth was ready to show.

Bright, white and full of our favorite paper-crafting inspiration, our booth showcased a handful of the Studio Calico family of brands: Big Picture Classes, Ali Edwards Design, Baby Boy Bakery, The TomKat Studio and (of course) Studio Calico.

Each dedicated section of the booth highlighted that specific brand's aesthetic and product offerings. In the middle of the booth was our photo booth—complete with a paper-crafted backdrop of stars and a selection of props. Everyone who came by our booth was invited to take a picture in our photo booth to have a digital memory of their time at CHA. Many of our friends also exhibiting at the show came by to have fun with the photo booth. Every few hours we made sure to test out the booth too—you know, to make sure it was working properly!

From Lisa:

As always, one of the best parts of the show is connecting with other crafters. During the weekend, we had the chance to catch up with the awesome people that are customers, designers, teachers and fans of all of our brands. Over in the BPC section of the booth, we were able to connect with a lot of passionate crafters, many of whom we’ll be working with on classes in the future! It’s always inspiring to talk to people who love what they do, and we left the show filled with ideas for our 2016 lineup!

Another side perk of attending the show is seeing all of the gorgeous projects – both in our booth, and out and about the show floor. We had projects from Ali, BPC teachers and the SC team featured, and getting the chance to see the details up close is always a treat.
