Scrapbook Kit Workshop - JAMIE WATERS

Jamie lives in Southern California with her husband and four children. She loves 75-degree days and is a romantic at heart! She loves a great book and appreciates a good meal. One of her favorite things to do is flip through scrapbooks with her teenage and adult children, marveling at how little they were or the memories that have since been forgotten. She’s been scrapbooking for over 14 years so that her family will never forget those bits and pieces, both big and small.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I’m really excited to use the silkscreen on my projects. It’s such a delicate design that can be used for so many themes. I also love the colors and patterned papers that were chosen. My favorites are “stacked’ and “bingo,” their patterns are super fun.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, you will learn about using negative space on a photo, perhaps as a title block or a place to house details. In the second lesson, you’ll see how I incorporated the digital printables into my layout that features the subject - myself! In the third layout, you’ll see how I tackle my supplies and use a bunch all at once.

Takeaways:

Photographs are often the starting point of a layout. Look at your photos and photo-taking with fresh eyes. See how you can incorporate the design of the photo in your layout. Also, include yourself in your layouts. You’re the backbone of all these projects you create!

Documenter Kit Workshop - Kelly Noel

Kelly Noel has been an art lover her entire life. Scrapbooking was a perfect fit for her, and she started recording her memories in 1997, while in college. She found the online scrapbooking community in late 2004 and was totally obsessed from that time on. Kelly lives in Florida with her husband Tom and their three boys (Jackson, Brady and Sawyer), and when she's not at one of her boys' baseball games, she's working with Studio Calico's teachers as the education content coordinator.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

As an all-boy mama, I'm loving the bolder colors in this month's kit! There's definitely something for everyone, but the reds, navys and greens are a favorite for me for for sure!

What she'll be teaching:

In the main kit only lesson, I'll walk you through my typical process for creating with kits from start to finish. I'll share some tips and tricks I've learned working with kits over the years. In the second lesson, I'll create a "themed" spread using some of our favorite recipes. And in the final lesson, we'll mix everything up and use bits and pieces from the Documenter kits and add-ons to create an everyday style spread making the most of all the kits. As a bonus, I'm also sharing a few ideas for "out of the box" ways to use some of the products from this month's kits.

Takeaways:

I want subscribers to see the versatility in their kits. Creating color schemes and themes within the kits themselves is easy when you look at them with fresh eyes. This year, I want to look closer at the details of our lives and I hope to share some of my ideas for doing so in this workshop.
