Member Challenge | MarieL

This week, our member Marie (MarieL), wants you to create a layout using your main photo for your color inspiration. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit MarieL to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Hello Everyone! My name is Marie from Washington State. I am excited to share this week’s challenge with you. To create this spread I took a photo of some fresh spring flowers laying on a table and then enlarged it to make it the focus of my pages. The first color that popped out at me in the photo was green, so I went through my past kits to find green journaling cards, embellishments and washi tape. The next color I noticed was the orange in the flower petals so I went back through my stash to pull out labels, cards, and photos that had a touch of orange in them to accent my main photo. And finally since my flowers were placed on a white table, I used a few cards with a white background to echo the look.

My challenge to you is to use a bright colorful picture on your layout, and then pull a couple of primary colors from it for your embellishments and accent paper. Try not to use more than 2 or 3 colors to give your page a cohesive look. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!
