June's featured teachers

Documenter Kit Workshop - Julie Maniago

Juli has always loved documenting life, whether it be through photographs or videos. She started scrapbooking four years ago as a college student. After sharing her work on Instagram and YouTube, she has been given opportunities to teach scrapbooking classes online and work on various design teams. When not scrapbooking, Juli is usually bingewatching too much Netflix. She currently resides in New Jersey, though she’s usually wishing she were at Disney World.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

My favorite thing about the Scout kits (aside from the square corners!) is the balance between brightly colored cards and black and white cards. I love the bits of gold, and I especially love the gold stars. They make the perfect embellishments to finish off pages.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, I’ll be teaching you different ways to add texture to your pages without necessarily using different textured supplies. In the second lesson, I’ll share some tips and ideas for stamping on photos. For the third lesson, I’ll show you how to focus on a special event without putting the focus on supplies.

Takeaways:

I hope you’ll be able to see your supplies in a different way and see the versatility in each kit. I hope you’ll be able to apply these tips to the kits to come as well!

Planner Kit Workshop - Stephanie Bryan

Stephanie is a mama to two sweet kiddos and a wife to one crazy husband! She loves anything and everything photography, and is a little obsessed with paper, picnics and memory keeping! You can usually find her sipping a hot cup of coffee while playing with paper and photos in her craft room!

Favorite things about the month's kit:

One of my very favorite things in the Scout Planner kit this month is the cute little rainbow-colored notebook! I always have a notebook handy to write down moments of our days or the funny things my kiddos say and this little gem is just perfect! I’m also a big fan of the One Little Bird washi strips in this month’s kit! They add the perfect pop of color to any project!

What she'll be teaching:

In this month’s workshop, I’ll be sharing some of the ways I like to incorporate some simple memory keeping into my planner! In the first lesson, I’ll be sharing some fun ways to utilize the awesome rainbow-colored notebook in the kit! For the next two lessons, I’ll share a walk through video of how I set up my monthly planner, as well as creative uses for filling up those “leftover” or extra planner pages!

Takeaways:

Not all planners have to have just appointments and dates! I try to approach my planner without any rules or expectations! Some weeks have just a few notes scribbled here and there, and other weeks are full of photos, memories and more! There’s no right or wrong when it comes to planners.

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Ashley Horton

Hello, all! My name is Ashley Horton, and I love all things scrapbooking! I live in Alabama with my husband, our three children and our dog. I have been a scrapbooker since 2006, and I love to do something crafty every day. I love connecting with other scrapbookers around the world through social media, design teams and scrapbook classes. I also enjoy creating my own digital die cut designs and digital/printable scrapbook collections. Scrapbooking is definitely a big part of my lifestyle, and not just a hobby anymore!

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The Scout kit is so versatile! I love that it can be used for feminine or masculine layouts, as well as everyday photos. Large Chipboard Alphas…need I say more?! These are perfect as is, in the neutral gray. You could also add a personal touch to them by covering them with patterned paper or paint. There are also a lot of options for fussy cutting in the Scout Kit. I love to fussy cut papers that allow me to create different looks with the patterns or create extra embellishments for a layout.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we’ll build layers on our layout with patterned papers and embellishments from the Main Kit only. In the second lesson, we’ll focus on mixing patterned papers, creating a fun background with them, and adding some fun stamping. In the third lesson, we’ll look at using big shapes on your layout and designing the rest of your page around them.

Takeaways:

Keep it simple! You don’t have to overthink things when you are working with a kit. Let the kit do the work for you. Creativity doesn’t have to be complicated, especially when you have basic ideas for starting a layout and the products are already coordinated for you.
