Member Challenge | Brinkleyboy

This week, our member Cindy wants you to challenge yourself. Our members are so talented and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit Cindy in the member gallery to see more of her work.

Hello and happy summer my fellow creatives! Cindy here to bring you this week's challenge: Challenge Yourself! My layout was inspired and created in response to @Odessa's May LOTW Challenge #3. Having just received my Jolly Holiday SB kit and supplies, I set about to meet her tropical challenge!

Now normally I gravitate toward making cards, so the first challenge to myself was to create something out of my comfort zone...a layout!

When I do make layouts, I like my pages clean and simple. I am not a big embellishment user and have such a stockpile of unused embellishments, so I surprised myself on all the things I ended up using with this layout: all the beautiful rainbow colored acetate words, that yummy gold pineapple washi (which I seem to collect and not use), the tags and the cards from the DK and the Jane and Michael add-on, as well as the gold acrylic embellishments.

I challenged myself to finally break out the mists I purchased but have never used! I always remember to use it AFTER I have adhered everything on my page and think it's too late now! I am always afraid I might make a mistake and get on my cards and photos and ruin my layout so I never do! It happened again while making this layout. I needed just a little color on the grid paper but had already adhered everything onto the page. So I covered my photos and cards with paper to mask them so it wouldn't get where I didn't want it. Yay!

I challenged myself to actually use up lots of items I have from as many kits as I could...which I did with the alphas and the stamps.

So as a result of someone else's challenge, I challenged myself! It scares me sometimes to try something new or outside my norm, but after I do it results in me feeling good and learning something new. When we challenge ourselves we grow so much creatively! My challenge to you is Challenge Yourself! Whether it be by using a new/old product you have never used before or a different type of project or technique you normally wouldn't make. Challenge yourself to use up items you thought you would use when you purchased them but never did, or items from as many older kits as you can to get them into circulation. Challenge yourself, grow and have fun!!!
