Member Challenge | glenys

This week, our member Glenys wants you to scrap your vintage photos! Our members are so talented, and we love seeing your work in the gallery! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to visit Glenys in the member gallery to see more of her work.

Hi, everyone! This is a photo of me in my younger days... Much younger actually, as it was Christmas of 1965. I love to scrap these older photos, especially ones of me as a child. I wanted this layout to be fun to match the photo.

When I make layouts, I tend towards simple layouts. I wanted to use the cute emoticon paper from the Galileo scrapbook kit, but I didn't want it to overwhelm the photo. I chose three individual rectangles from the paper and paired them with some of the other patterned paper from the kit.

My challenge to you is to use a vintage photo in a layout in an unexpected way. Mix it with bright colours as I have, or add some modern embellishments. Get out those vintage photos and have some fun!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Glenys' challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the Studio Calico gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by July 25 to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the July 30 Layout of the Week post.
