September 2016 l Member Spotlight

Hello! I am a mama to three bright kiddos ranging from age 4 to 15 and the wife to a pretty great husband. I live in Southern California in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, where we are just a short drive from both the beach and mountains-places we like to visit regularly. Since school has resumed, life has been moving at a pretty fast pace, but I make it a priority to craft on a regular basis because it makes me happy. My other hobbies include reading multiple books at one time, walking around in circles to up my FitBit count, and practicing my non-scared look so that I don't discourage my permit-bearing teenager while he is behind the wheel.

Member Since:

I've been a member of the SC community since 2011. I started scrapping the summer after my oldest daughter was born and stumbled upon Studio Calico the following year though the member gallery at Two Peas. I still remember my first kit, Candy Shoppe, like it was just yesterday…sigh. My love for the kits was really an instant thing for me—having a box full of coordinated goodies arrive on my doorstep makes my day! The kits have also served as both a push to create more and to also move outside my comfort zone as I am presented with new products and ideas.

Why Studio Calico?

My favorite aspect of SC is definitely the community. Being around like minded individuals who understand my obsession like no other is really great and comforting. Ironically though, I am not the most prolific participant. I am naturally very shy and am very comfortable keeping to myself, but please know that I read through the member boards regularly and get all sorts of warm fuzzies from the conversations that are happening.

Not to brag but...

The project that I mam probably the most proud of is a mini-album that I made last year documenting a Halloween trip to Disneyland. It was my first attempt at a mini-album and I loved every bit of it! I went all out with it and used up a lot of supplies which is really great considering how much I have.
