Sunday Sketch | Jen Chapin
Tags:This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" grid-based layout using two photos and lots of journaling. Our card sketch is a square Valentine's Day card featuring stamping and a tag, and our pocket page sketch uses a dated 3" x 4" journaling card and a 3" x 4" photo. Creative Team contributor Jen Chapin is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Jen here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Anna-Maria Wolniak's Seriously layout:

Our card sketch comes from Carson Riutta's Sending Love card:

Our pocket page sketch comes from Kelsey McEvoy's Fall Weekend Mornings spread:

And here's Jen's take on our scrapbook sketch:

I loved working with this sketch based on the original layout by Anna-Maria! It was perfect for documenting my love of Starbucks during the winter season. I used one small photo along with several pieces of patterned paper and die cuts from this month's Redwood add-on kit. I changed the sketch a little, adapting it to fit a 12" x 12" piece of kraft cardstock.

Instead of using white mist, I used some Whipped Spackle along with a stencil to create texture and add a bit of white to the background to mimic snow. I also used a bit of an extra cup for one of my patterned paper squares.

Supplies: Kits - Cypress Grove Scrapbook Kit, Redwood Add-On Kit; Other - Whipped Spackle (Faber Castell), sewing machine, thread, date stamp
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by December 12th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the December 17th Layout of the Week post.

I used the grid design of the scrapbook sketch to create this 9x12 DK spread.
An area named after Queen Victoria fit well with the sonnet embellishments.
