Sunday Sketch | Mandie Pierce
This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout with repeated embellishments and round shapes. Our card sketch features layered patterned papers and stamping, and our pocket page sketch features an embellished 3" x 4" filler card and a divided 3" x 4" pocket with patterned paper and journaling. Creative Team member Mandie Pierce is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Mandie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Jen Chapin's Adventure layout:
Our card sketch comes from Jenn Picard's Hooray for Love card:
And our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's December 2016 (1) spread:
And here's Mandie's take on our sketches:
For this week's Sunday Sketch, I made two vastly different layouts. The first one is based on the sketch of Kelly's pocket card. I loved the simple, graphic nature of the card, and thought it would interpret well as a scrapbook layout. I turned this look into an 8.5" x 11" layout.
This layout uses only the main Roman Holiday Scrapbook kit. I LOVED the paper with all of the scattered letters and a few words. It included the words "aim high" in its design, a phrase often used by the Air Force. I thought it would be great to use on a layout about our daughter's congressional nomination to the Air Force Academy. I paired it with the black and white star print.
Supplies: Kits - "Roman Holiday" Scrapbook Kit; Other - DIY mini stapler
I also loved Jen's "Adventure" layout last month, so I made a second layout based on its sketch! I chose a 9" x 12" size for this project. 12" x 12" was just a little too big, but 8.5" x 11" was a little too small. In place of the flowers Jen used, I used the stars from the Funny Face add-on kit and circles that I punched from the papers in the main kit.
This layout is not my typical style, but I had a lot of fun creating something different. I loved all of those little icons and words on the patterned paper from Life Love Paper. I thought circles were a good way to use it without it being overwhelming.
Supplies: Kits - "Roman Holiday" Scrapbook Kit; Funny Face Add-On Kit; Sabrina Add-On Kit; Stamps - 4x6 Icon by Life Love Paper, Adulting by One Little Bird; Cards - Icon Card set by Life Love Paper; Other: mini stapler, sewing machine, typewriter, ink
