Guest Designer | Lindsay Bateman

We're thrilled to have the lovely and talented, Lindsay Bateman, as one of our guest designers this month, and excited to get to know her better today! Be sure to follow Lindsay here at Studio Calico to keep up with her and see more of her beautiful work.

Hello, everyone! I'm Lindsay Bateman, and I live in a very small town in Northern Alberta, Canada. Currently I'm a full-time stay-at-home mom to my three year old son Madix, and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby girl in June. I have been married to my husband Matthew for eight years. I began paper crafting when I was in University, and scrapbooking really helped me through some very challenging and lonely times back then. From that point on it has evolved into this passion and love of mine. I really view scrapbooking as part of my lifestyle, rather than a hobby, because I truly make documenting a part of my every day. Whether it's taking photos, creating in my planner, working in an album, or dreaming up future projects...one of these things will usually fall into my daily life somehow.

My current favorite type of project to work on lately is definitely my memory planner. I love creating in my Traveler's Notebook and have been working on creating more traditional scrapbook pages. I'm also a huge mini album lover, as well. What can I say, I love it all! I'm continuously inspired by all of the amazing paper crafting artists out there sharing their hearts and talents on social media. Instagram is my obsession—total and pure eye candy! I also love perusing Pinterest late at night. In my spare time, if I am not paper crafting, I love to spend time with my family, enjoy some good ol' reality TV, or enjoy a good conversation with a friend. At the end of the day I'm just a simple girl who loves to live a simple life.

April Planner Kit Calendar Spread: I loved using the main kit to pull my calendar together for the month of April. Not only are the puffy stickers adorably cute, they are the perfect accents for all my monthly notes. The stamp set in the Planner Kit is perfect for bullet journaling, as well as adding in my to-do lists for the month. The prompts are also wonderful at jogging my memory so I know just what to include. I usually stick to black stamping ink, but the pink SC ink is just so much fun to play with, and it adds just the perfect touch.

Traveler's Notebook Planner Kit & Add On (PHX): The pattern papers included in this kit make wonderful background pages for a Traveler's Notebook. The colors are fun and bright—perfect for spring! The cat clips are perfect for securing in my Instax photo, and I loved using the gold sticker alphas to create an engaging title. I love the foil! The stamps are wonderful to layer and mix together to create additional titles and sentiments to accent my photo.

Traveler's Notebook Planner Kit and Add On (Oh My Stars): I had the best time using all of the ephemera to pull this page together. The ephemera completely represented so many aspects of my "real life" right now. I loved it so much I decided to create an entire page of ephemera. I also loved the star stickers and how they were aligned on the packaging—I simply recreated the look as a background on my page. The number stamps are so much fun to use on Instax photos, as they are the perfect size for the photos. The bold bright colors on this page make me so happy and inspired!
