LOTW | Mandy

Our Layout of the Week, Reading, comes from our member Mandy (username mandy1632). We love how Mandy used her adorable photo as the base of her layout and embellished right on top of the photo! To keep up with Mandy and see more of her work, be sure to follow her here at SC. 

Here's what Mandy has to say about her project:

I've been wanting to scrapbook my son's love of reading for a few months now–finally the perfect opportunity came along this spring, while he was reading under a beautiful flowering tree. To document his reading and the gorgeous spring blossoms, I had the idea to use a large, color photo and embellish it with small pieces pouring out of the book–like the ideas came to life. Unfortunately, after printing the photo, I realized the colors of the tree and the environment were too confusing. The embellishments were lost on the page. After adjusting the contrast and printing a black and white version, I added the beautiful colors of the tree with high-flow acrylic paints, Tim Holtz distress stain, and Color Theory mists. Adding a few digital stamps, some Ali Edwards die-cuts, and hitting up my enamel dot collection finished the layout!
