NSD Crop Challenge | Get Messy with Theresa Doan

I'm no artist by any means. But lately, I have loved playing with paint—watercolors, as well as acrylic paints. It's always fun to get a little messy and create a one-of-a-kind, unique piece. On this layout in my Traveler's Notebook, I took a couple of my favorite Color Theory paints and layered them with white gesso.

My challenge to you is to get messy! Create your own background with paint. Try acrylics or watercolors. Create a pattern or just make something random. Just have fun with it!

When you complete this challenge, upload it to the member gallery and leave a link to your project in the comments below. See ALL of the crop challenges here.

I hardly ever use paint, but I thought I would give it a go and I loved it! I have played with colour and tryed out different techniques. To create the bakground paper for my weekly card and for one of the journalingcards I have mixed color theory inks with water on a piece of plastic and then flipped it over on a piece of white cardstock.

Here's my take on the challenge: https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202992-on-a-rock-mountains-behind-me

I painted the pink background paper with watercolours in unidirectional strokes for some texture and pattern. For some added shimmer, I mixed the water I used with some perfect pearls, which gives it a subtle pearly look that went very well with the pastel theme of the layout (unfortunately it doesn't show up so well on the camera).

Definitely need to use paint more often! Used mini mists and watercolors to splatter a messy rainbow of color on my page.

Have been meaning to paint up this background paper - loved it but then got a freeze on how I would use it and still have a photo - from the Written in the Stars kit. Love how it came up!! https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/203021-dreamer
