July 2017 Member Spotlight

Hello all, my name is Terry, and I've been scrapbooking for almost 20 years now. I live in WNY with my husband, three young adult sons, and our rescue dog Penny. Things get crazy around here, (not to mention loud), and I love to document all of it! I've dabbled in a little bit of everything in my scrapbooking, including mixed media, traditional scrapbooking, and pocket pages, but I am at heart, a simple scrapper. Currently I have a thing for tags, wood veneer hearts, and three little dots. You'll find those things on almost all of my pages.

Member Since:

I stumbled upon SC back in 2012, but didn't buy my first kit until Poet Society was released in August 2014. I loved that kit so much, that I'm still hoarding what's left! I took advantage of some Black Friday sales after that, then finally subbed to the Documenter kit in April of 2015. I've also subbed on and off to the scrapbook kit. I love getting a box of goodies delivered each month to my door. It's like celebrating my birthday every month!

Why SC?

One thing I like about SC is the ability to communicate with like minded people, that share the same passion for pretty paper. I love the inspiration found in the CT and member galleries, but my favorite thing is the challenges. I try to complete them all each month. I don't always succeed, but I definitely try!

Must-Have Product:

My favorite SC product right now are the Documenter cards. Even though I'm not currently scrapping in pockets, I still get a lot of use from them. I think they're great for journal prompts, and you'll often find me cutting them apart or making them into tags. (Like I said above, I have a thing for tags!)

Fav. Project:

Trying to pick a favorite project right now, is like trying to pick a favorite kid. I love it all! I've completed several December Daily and 30 Days of Thankful albums that I just love. Currently, along with my day to day scrapbooking projects, I have a couple vacation albums in the works. Also, last fall I started an art journal of sorts. I call it my "playground!" For me it's a place with no (self imposed) rules. Some place where I can jot down a few words, a quote or a memory and pair it with my favorite papers and products. It's just fun!

Project Bucket List:

My project bucket list is to photograph and scrap more of the people in my life. Unfortunately, some of them hate having their photo taken! You know people like that right? My oldest son is the worst. I've had to get sneaky when I try and get a photo of him. Just the other day, I took a photo of his badge from work just because it has his picture on it, and I wanted to document his internship this summer!

What's Next?

Right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to photograph and document our upcoming family vacation. We are heading back to the White Mountains in NH. This will be our fourth year vacationing there, and I'm wondering how I will take photos of the same things, with fresh eyes. Then how will I document it. I've scrapped it in 12 x 12 format, and also in a 9 x 12 album with 8 x 10 collages. I'd like to do something new with it this year, but I haven't figured out what! Any ideas? I'm open to them!
