Jenny has been subscribing to Studio Calico Scrapbook Kit for ONE-HUNDRED-AND-EIGHT consecutive months. She is full of joy and a true asset to our community. Read more about her below!

Hi guys! My name is Jenny Alfonso (@jenjeb) and I’m excited to be Studio Calico’s Member Spotlight of the month! I live in San Diego with my husband Jeff of 20 years and our two kids - Vincent (17 years old) & Olivia (14 years old). I am a full time school nurse. I love being a nurse and working for a school district has its perks of being off work the same time my children are off from school. Our son Vincent has autism and because of it, it has shaped our lives for the better.

I’ve been a member of SC since 2008. I had been scrapbooking a while and mostly bought supplies from local scrapbook stores. I was intrigued with having a scrapbook kit curated for me and delivered to my doorstep. When my first SC kit was delivered, I fell in love. And I’ve been hooked ever since. Not only do I love the products, I love all the inspiration that can be found here through the Creative Team and the SC Members.

One of my favorite aspects of SC are the unique products in their kits. I love that a lot of the kit items are exclusive to SC. I am also a huge fan of the SC classes. I love using sketches so my favorite classes have been the Summer of Sketches. I also love taking classes that take me out of my comfort zone and help me use products in a different way like the Well Traveled class.

I love anything alpha related. Coming up with a title for my layout/project is one of the most fun parts for me. I love combining different styles of fonts. I LOVE the alpha stamps that SC has. They are so versatile and fun to use.

Since I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 20 years and been part of SC for the past 9 years, it is hard to pick just one favorite project. Looking back at my SC gallery, I found this layout (“We All Have Magic Inside Us”) that I made about me in 2015. The design is super simple and there aren’t a lot of embellishments (just pretty paper, an overlay, some sequins stars). But the journaling and the title work are priceless to me. When it comes down to it, scrapbooking isn’t about the latest and greatest supplies (though that part is pretty fun). For me, it is about getting my memories down on paper so I can look back at it and smile.

One of my project goals is to make a mini album of my daughter’s first time experience this year as a JV cheerleader at her high school. I’ve taken a ton of pictures and it would be nice to have them in one place so she could look back on it.

Right now I’m gearing up for December Daily. This will be my 11th year embarking on this project. It is still one of my most favorite projects to do all year.

I would like to give a shout out to all of you members of the SC community. You all provide inspiration and encouragement to help stories told. You are all so passionate about this crazy hobby of ours. All the kind comments, supportive feedback and likes on my projects that are uploaded to the SC Gallery are so uplifting. It is so fun to be a part of this community.
