Documenter Kit Workshop - Amy Gretchen

Amy Gretchen is a wife and mother of three teenage daughters, and it’s these people in her life who have helped her find her passion for capturing the details that make up her everyday. She enjoys the challenge of observing the world around her and finding the beauty in everything she sees but finds it’s the everyday moments that inspire her to document life and tell her stories. Amy Gretchen loves teaching what she knows and currently shares weekly process videos on her YouTube channel to help inspire others to get their stories told. When she's not documenting life, she loves to travel, eat chocolate, do jigsaw puzzles, listen to podcasts, and learn something new. See more from Amy on her blog and Instagram

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The first thing I noticed was all the color. I’m loving that right now, especially while the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing winter. It’s pretty gray around here, so the pops of color are welcome. Another thing that stood out to me was the different shapes and textures we get to work with this month, from the tags to the stickers and puffy stickers. I love that there are so many different textures to play with.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we’ll focus on creating balance and cohesion on your layout using repeating elements. In the second lesson, we’ll focus on getting rid of some distractions by changing our photos to black and white to help our layouts pop. In the last lesson, we’ll focus telling our stories in letter form.

Takeaways:

The bottom line is we want to get our stories told. Working on our projects, whether they be mini books, weekly or monthly documenting, should be fun. Don’t let the empty page protector intimidate you. Let the kit work for you. They’re well designed with your documenting projects in mind to take all the guesswork out of it. All you need to do is gather your photos and stories and begin to play. Don’t overthink it this month. Let’s have fun.

Planner Kit Workshop - Julie Kinneeveauk

Julie has a love of stickers and paper that runs deep. As a little girl, she collected Mrs. Grossman's stickers and dearly loved a fresh set of Crayola markers. In high school, she was introduced to scrapbooking and has been documenting her family's memories ever since. In 2014, she moved to a new home and fell behind in both scrapbooking and life. Naturally, she turned to the internet for ways to organize herself and her family in their new home. There, she discovered home binders, paper planners, and cleaning schedules—and she decided if she could use stickers to motivate herself to complete household tasks and grocery shop, there was hope after all! She jumped into paper planning with both feet, creating an Instagram account to share and connect with other planners. She searched for planner peace, and when the right inserts weren't available to meet her needs, she created her own. Her style lands smack dab in the middle of creative and functional, and she has found that others are searching for the same balance. She enjoys sharing her creative process to encourage others to scratch their creative itch, all while trying to maintain the purpose of paper planning—GSD...getting stuff done!

Favorite things about the month's kit:

I was super excited about the bright, fun colors in the "Summit" Kit, and the “Start Now” page marker stole the show for me. I love using page markers throughout my planner, because it means easy-access to the things I want to quickly locate. The color is one of my favorites and this will be an item I use for many months to come!

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, I'll share a simple monthly spread. The focus here for me isn’t on decoration, but on the act of "dumping" my electronic calendar into a format that actually registers with my brain. :) The second lesson, I'll plan out a functional weekly spread using the printable label stickers from the digital file. Last, I'll spend some time creatively setting my goals for the month on paper.

Takeaways:

My goal within my planner is to combine function and style. I think you’ll find me starting with functional elements and adding tidbits of style to keep myself motivated. My hope is that subscribers will be motivated to use their planners to get their schedules straight, accomplish their goals, all while playing with colorful, fun products!

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Kim Jeffress

Kim Jeffress lives in Brisbane Australia with her husband and two sons. She has been scrapbooking since 2000 and her main goal is to preserve her family’s precious memories. Currently, she's on the media team for Heidi Swapp, which is a dream come true for her, and she also serves on the design team for Jot magazine. Being on these teams helps her stay on track preserving her family’s stories and memories.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The bold pattern papers in the kit—my style of scrapbooking and creating projects is to use fun and colorful combinations of pattern and color. I loved how the kit contained that gorgeous floral print but then it was combined with the graphic red and white cross paper. I just love being able to mix and match. The chipboard alphas—since I mainly scrapbook my two boys, it's fun, once in a while, to go all girly. Those pink chipboard letters were a perfect addition to my scrapbook stash. And the stamp set—I love how the stamp is so versatile. It can be used on a more masculine page, a travel page, and even a girly layout.

What she'll be teaching:

In the first lesson, we'll learn a fun, interactive technique to get more photos and more of the story on your page. This is well suited for your travel-themed photos. The second lesson, we'll be using the exclusive cut file I designed for the class. Since January is all about the new year, you may choose to scrapbook a story about your 2018 goals or relive an important story from 2017. Our last lesson will feature the stunning stamp set that comes as an add-on. We'll learn to use it subtly so as not to take away from the most important features of your layout—the photo and journaling.

Takeaways:

Scrapbooking can tell the big stories of your family or the little ones. From family vacations to school concerts and parades, all of these memories are an integral part of your family’s stories and what better way to celebrate that than on a scrapbook layout.

Kim will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Lisa TruesdellJessy Christopher, and Neela Nalam. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome printable Kim will be using in this month's workshop:
