Guest Designer | Leah O’Neil

We're thrilled to have the lovely and talented Leah O'Neil as one of our guest designers this month and are excited to get to know her better today! Be sure to follow Leah here at Studio Calico to keep up with her and see more of her beautiful work.

Hello, everyone! My name is Leah O’Neil. I live in Virginia with my mutually geeky husband and spunky tuxedo cat, Minerva. I work in the Water Resources Engineering field, but in my free time, I love to stay at home and introvert with my husband. “Netflix and chill” is truly our favorite past time. I also love to spend time getting crafty in my planners and Traveler’s Notebooks.

I’ve been planning and scrapbooking for over 15 years. Somewhere along the way, my desire to bring creativity into my life in whatever way possible blended my love of scrapbooking into my love for planning/list-making. Planners are such a great way to document what’s happening day to day, and it’s so fun to occasionally add photos into the mix. My favorite projects always involve documenting random memories on my planner pages or in my Traveler’s Notebooks.

To this day, I have never fully completed a scrapbook album. Scrapbooking more casually in my planner breaks memory keeping down into bite-size chunks, which is so much more sustainable and fun for me!

"Bookmarked" Weekly Layout - I feel as though spring jumped straight into my planner with the vibrant colors from the "Bookmarked" Planner Kit! For this weekly spread, I used the sticky note tabs and stamp from the kit to add dates to my undated inserts. I fussy cut some flowers from the floral paper and used the scraps to cut into strips to use like washi tape. I wish I had an unlimited supply of the gorgeous floral paper from this month!

Traveler's Notebook Monthly Layout - March 2018 - I decorated my March monthly layout using the main "Bookmarked" Planner Kit and the 4x6 TV stamp by Life.Love.Paper. I fussy cut a couple more flowers from the floral paper in the main kit. One of my favorite parts of this layout is the banner I created with some of the sticky note tabs and a few half circles I punched out of my paper scraps. I used the hearts in the add-on stamp to add another banner-like border to the top of my page. The scripty font phrases in this stamp set added the sweetest touch to this layout!

Planner Bookmark with the Bookmarked Planner Kit - I made a little bookmark for my Traveler’s Notebook using the cardboard mailer envelope my kit came in (for sturdiness) and the last of that floral paper. I added a couple of stamped phrases, an enamel sticker, and a tab that I labeled using the adorable alphas from the main kit. The fun part about this bookmark is that the other side has a pocket made out of a glassine bag. I made a little tag to tuck into it as well. I can’t wait to add a photo to this later with some journaling!
